Five years after the “R6 Trail” got its little section in Lower Merion’s Open Space Plan, the already-popular Cynwyd Heritage Trail was christened with much fanfare on October 23, 2011. It was impossible to have thanked all the volunteers who gave up their time over the years, but it couldn’t have happened without you all. Special recognition went to Bruce Reed, Paul McElhaney, and George Manos, who were all staunch supporters of the trail through thick and thin, Chris “Mr. Trail” Leswing, and visionary Jerry Francis, who first saw the potential of the abandoned rail line.
